Legitimate Post

The President of the United States had a surprise press conference yesterday. Were we going to invade another country? Maybe Syria, who has a ruthless dictator and is killing his own people left and right.

Did we discover life on Mars, after the rover launched its first laser assault on a rock?

Did we do anything spectacular, drastic, terrible or whatever that would force the President to do an impromptu press conference?

The President came out to the public yesterday with an egregious statement. He is, in fact, against rape.

Wait, what?

Yep. He had to do this for several reasons. One, and first, it was a simple but massive political move. Why? Well, the reason President Obama held the press conference were to counter the points made by Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.).

“First of all, from what I understand from doctors [pregnancy from rape] is really rare. If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”

What he is basically saying is a woman who is “truly” raped, her body will reject the pregnancy. However, if a woman is “kind of” raped; i.e. she “orgasms”, doesn’t “truly” say “no,” statutory limitations; she will then get pregnant. You know, not “legitimate rape.”

That is what Rep. Akin said during an interview. This is an elected official, who also sits on the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, which are topics he obviously understands.

And once again, we find ourselves in a free speech dilemma, except that no one is there to defend this idiot’s asinine comments. Hopefully, he drops out of his race, and save himself and the GOP any further embarrassment. Of course, Democrats are calling for his to step down from the race as well, all except Rep. Akin’s opponent. Honestly, who wouldn’t want to run against a jackass like this.

But we come back to this point. You can say what you want in this country, as long as it doesn’t insinuate violence on any people, causes unnecessary panic, or the few other limitations we put on free speech.

One of the benefits we have as a nation, is that people like Rep. Akin can say what he said, and people like President Obama can say what he said. And we can all say easily that one is an idiot, asshole and moron. And we can easily see, now, what is right and what is wrong when it comes to the conversation about rape.
